Rituals

Various kinds of rituals are held throughout the year at Gyudmed Monastery. During our staying, we saw some of them.

The Purification Ceremony

It is a ceremony to ward off the evils. They say that evil spirits also live in Gyudmed.

The Special Initiation for Longevity by the Abbot

They pray for the religious connection with the deity of the longevity, and they hope helping the people in the world.

The Ceremony of Offerings

Mr. Hiraoka visits this place annually, and hands the offerings to each monk as a part of donation. To indicate the attitude on his offering, he politely bows to each monk.

The Commencement Day

A ceremony in which the apprentices have accomplished the basic curriculum. It authorizes them as genuine monks.
